Lara's outfits, in some games, are based on various historical eras. These are explained during the game, and are listed in the 'Appearances' section above. For each outfit, a picture of Lara wearing it is available, with an explanation of which game it is from. The outfits shown in the third and sixth games, 'Run, Lara, Run' and 'Life for Lara', were originally designed for the other games, but could not be used in the third game because of the license limitations, and were not redesigned for the sixth game. In the fourth and fifth games, 'Apex Predator' and 'Girl of the Shadows', the outfits were dropped in favour of outfits that were more appropriate for the storyline. The outfits in the first game, 'Lara Croft: Tomb Raider', were not returned in later games as they were not considered suitable for use in a modern game; instead Lara wears clothes that are appropriate for the era they are in and does not wear the same outfit twice in the same game.

The physical appearance of Lara varies depending on the game. She has blonde hair in the original game, with brown hair in the next three games. She has long, brown hair in the fourth game, but short, blonde hair in the fifth and the sixth games.

Lara's personal possessions are kept in a Samsonite suitcase, a storage box, a wooden crate, a leather satchel, a backpack, a briefcase, an ammo box, a toolbox, a map case, a toiletries bag, a handbag, and a cash box. The contents are held by Lara in her Inventory, which holds a total of 1,100 inventory items. These items can be used and are not required to complete the game. Each item is photographed in one of the four games when it is first obtained. In this way, Lara's inventory can be tracked throughout the series, as each item in her inventory has a unique number and a picture. The inventory contains essential items that Lara needs to survive in the games, such as food and water, ammunition for her weapons, health packs, and crossbows; but also toys and personal items, such as the shirt she wears in the beginning of the game, a picture of her dog, and a notebook where she writes diary entries.

As someone who has played multiple games of the Killzone franchise, I can say that this game has excellent replay value. There is a large amount of level content to be explored, and you can find hidden collectibles throughout the game. There are four difficulty settings in the game: Easy, Normal, Hard and Nightmare.
